The Free
Hanseatic City of Bremen is over 1200 years old and
is very well preserved, around the ornate town hall,
a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2004 you will see
much evidence of Bremen’s past. It is located in the
North of Germany and lies on the banks of the river
Weser and is easily accessible by road, rail or air.
Today
Bremen is a modern federal state consisting of
Bremen and Bremerhaven both vibrant cities set in
charming countryside, and is only ½ hour’s drive to
the picturesque German North Coast. The region has a
distinctive atmosphere as well as a wonderful blend
of traditional values and a cosmopolitan outlook.
You will
see evidence of the world famous Brother Grimm story
of the Bremen Town Musicians depicted all over the
town with the four animals, the Donkey, Dog, Cat and
Cockerel. Other main sightseeing attractions are the
Town Hall, Ratskeller and the Roland statue; also
there is the opportunity for a number of boat trips
or bi-lingual guided tours of all the places of
interest. Shopping in Bremen is a sheer delight
because the city centre is so compact, yet manages
to have countless boutiques, fashion shops,
department stores and restaurants. The shops in
Bremen’s oldest district, the Schnoor Quarter, are
also open on Sundays between 11am and 4pm.
Bremen
also enjoys a lively night life with numerous
restaurants, Ice parlours, wine bars and pubs along
the banks of the Weser and for those who still
haven’t had enough the night clubs are open until
5-6 am.
Bremen
is now a major University City and the House of
Science in the centre of Bremen is the shop window
of Bremen’s Universities, colleges and research
institutes, which encourage visitors to dive into
the vast world of research and try clever
experiments and see fascinating life forms and
extraordinary exhibits.
Bremen
has something for everyone, discover Bremen for
yourself, you are never too young or too old to set
off on a journey of discovery.
