Described as 'vibrant’, ‘innovative’ and ‘cultured’,
Sheffield offers all the benefits of a lively,
genuinely friendly city, whilst being situated right
on the edge of the Peak District National Park
(meaning that half of the city’s population lives
within 15 minutes of open countryside).
Sheffield is a great place for going out, with an
expanding range of pubs, clubs, bars, restaurants
and cafes. If you need a spot of retail therapy,
there’s the popular Fargate, together with the
Meadowhall shopping mall. Neither is there any
shortage of cultural attractions - Sheffield has two
major theatres, the Lyceum and the Crucible,
together with four major art galleries.
For sporting enthusiasts there’s the Ponds Forge
Sports Centre (just a 10 minute walk from our Halls)
which has an Olympic - sized swimming pool.
Alternatively have a go at something different and
visit either the nearby Ski Village or Ice
Sheffield.
Despite its wealth of facilities, Sheffield isn’t an
expensive place to live, and many students find
themselves staying here after they finish their
studies. It’s also worth adding that Government
statistics show that Sheffield is officially the
safest city in the UK. All in all, the city offers
an excellent place to get the most out of your time
at university.
